Mets’ Voglebach Lifts Mets Past Pirates
Former Pittsburgh Pirate Daniel Voglebach enjoyed a productive night against his former team as his three RBI helped power the Mets to a much needed 7-1 victory at Citi Field on Thursday.
Voglebach who had been struggling through the month of September batting .161 (five hits in 31 at bats), had his best game in over a month — certainly a much needed performance for a team trying to hold onto first place in the NL East.
His first inning double, a bullet that shot over the head, of right fielder Cal Mitchell brought home Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso with the games first runs, and the Mets never looked back.

In the third inning, Lindor cracked a two-run home run to push the Mets lead to 4-1. Voglebach would follow with an RBI single to all but put the contest out of reach.
Rookie Mark Vientos also had his first Major League RBI base hit in the victory.
This is a huge four game series for the Mets, who must win it to stay in front of Atlanta, who has been slumping a bit themselves.
