Knicks Hold On Late for Victory over Bulls
It wasn’t pretty, but the Knicks found a way to hold off a late charge by the Chicago Bulls, winning 104-103 to improve to 4-1 on the season, tying New York with Chicago, Charlotte and Washington for the best record in the Eastern Conference.
The Knicks were led by stellar efforts by Kemba Walker (21 points) and R.J. Barrett (20) points as the Knicks led by as many as 13 points with 2:59 to go in the game.

Julius Randle contributed 13 points and 16 boards, and Derrick Rose added 12 points of his own in the Knicks victory.
After Randle’s two-point shot gave New York a 104-91 lead, the Knicks watched as the Bulls chipped away in the final minutes and seconds. Foul trouble, combined with clutch shots by the Bulls, pulled Chicago back into it. Nikola Vucevic’s 25-foot three pointer cut the Knicks lead down to just three, 104-101 with 40.7 seconds to go. Kemba Walker would miss a 9-foot jumper on the Knicks return down the floor, giving the Bulls some hope.
Zach LaVine gave Chicago even more life when he followed the Knicks miss with a slam dunk to cut the Knicks lead to one-point with 9.5 seconds to go.
Next Randle drew a foul, but couldn’t hit on either free throw with 5.1 seconds left. DeMar DeRozen got one last look for Chicago, heaved a 15-foot pullback jumper that bounced off rim and out as time expired. The Knicks held on, albeit, barely.
