Giants Bringing Back a Classic Look This Season
The New York Giants are throwing it back, all the way back to their glory days of the 1980s and 90s with a return to the uniforms made famous by the likes of Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks and Phil Simms.
Yes, the Giants will don the classic royal blue jerseys of the era with red and white piping on the sleeves, and the dark navy blue helmet with “GIANTS” written across the sides.
It’s coming back.
And only on a part-time basis, as the G-Men will wear the uniforms on October 2 against the Chicago Bears, and on December 4 against the Washington Commanders. The end zones will also be painted red to match the look of Super Bowl XXI when Big Blue won its first Super Bowl title against Denver back in 1986.
The Giants have worn a similar road white uniform that harkens back to that era as part of its “color rush” scheme. The only difference is the Giants were using their current royal blue helmets with the classic word mark of “GIANTS” in caps across each side of the helmet. There is no word if the road throwback uniforms will now be accompanied by the classic navy helmets.
The Giants will maintain their current royal blue/road white with red trim uniforms that have been a staple since 2000 as its primary uniform combination.
