Tommy DeVito and Zach Wilson Earn NFL Offensive Player of the Week Honors
The NFL Offensive Player of the Week has a local flare to it.
Both Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito and Jets quarterback Zach Wilson were named Offensive Players of the Week for their respective conferences.
Both players are coming off incredible performances in their respective games.
DeVito led the Giants to a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night by the score of 24-22. The New Jersey native has become a vibe, and he legend keeps growing with each contest he plays in. Since taking over as the Giants starting quarterback, DeVito is 3-1 as QB1.
The victory over Green Bay snapped an eight game losing streak on Monday night for Big Blue.
The Giants have scored nine touchdowns in games he has played in, and the entire team has a different feel to it. There is even talk amongst fans and pundits about a possible quarterback controversy for the Giants in 2024 between DeVito and injured incumbent Daniel Jones.
At 5-8, the Giants have a shot at the postseason IF they can win out and get some serious help.
ZACH’S BEST EFFORT
Meanwhile over in Florham Park, Zach Wilson earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for many consider to be his best game as a pro. Even Head Coach Robert Saleh said as much.
Wilson threw for 301 yards with 26 completions on 35 attempts (75%). He threw for two touchdowns in the Jets lopsided 30-6 victory.
The effort came after a week of turmoil that saw the quarterback embroiled in a controversy over a story in The Athletic that claimed Wilson was reluctant to return to the starting role after being benched the previous two weeks.
