New Jersey Has One of America’s Most Beautiful Castles
Did you know that you don’t have to travel far to see some of the most stunning castles? There are plenty right here in the U.S. For example, Boldt Castle in New York and Scotty’s Castle in California. Castles aren’t just faraway dreams. They’re closer to home than you might think.
House Beautiful, an interior decorating magazine, compiled a list of the most beautiful castles in the nation. This compilation was created with input from their editors, creative personnel, and a network of interior designers. It also incorporated information from various sources to establish the selection of featured properties.
They did note that all of their choices are not technically castles but that their selections offer what most castles do, which they said is “majestic glory.”
A New Jersey castle named one of the most beautiful in the U.S.
Earning a spot on their must-see roster is Lambert Castle in New Jersey. Found in the northern part of the state, this landmark stands atop Garret Mountain, providing a view of Paterson City. The castle’s official website reveals that it wasn’t always a public attraction. It used to be a private residence. The design takes cues from classic English castles, adding to its charm.
Catholina Lambert, an English immigrant who struck gold in the silk industry, is the mastermind behind this architectural marvel. He constructed the castle between 1892 and 1893, giving it the name “Belle Vista.”
Presently, Lambert Castle is undergoing renovation and is inaccessible to the general public. Their website says that the anticipated completion date for this project is later this year.
