Caitlin Clark now holds the new single-game assists record in the WNBA. In a 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings Clark had 19 assists along with 24 points and six rebounds.

The previous assists record was held by Courtney Vandersloot who had 18 assists on Aug. 31, 2020, she also had 18 assists in a playoff game on Sept. 28, 2021.

Clark scored or assisted on 66 points on Wednesday which is the most in a WNBA game. She is the second rookie in history to score or assist on 50 or more points in multiple games. The only player to do that was Candace Parker in 2008. She is the second player to have at least 20 points and 15 assists, Vandersloot did it in 2018. This is her third game with 20-plus points and 10-plus assists.

Angel McCoughtry did this once back in 2009 and other than that, no other rookie has done this. On top of leading the league in assists at 8.2 per game she is second in all-time rookie assists with 213, she trails Ticha Penicheiro who had 225 in 1998. She is also the first rookie and ninth player to record at least 400 and 200 assists in a season. In only 26 games she has scored or assisted on 915 points which is another rookie record.

Clark right now is the heavy favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award and the records she is setting are one of the reasons why. Her team, the Indiana Fever, have an 11-15 record and are seventh in the standings. If they keep pushing, they will secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2016. With Clark breaking records alongside fellow rookie Angel Reese who had a double-double in 15 straight games the WNBA is in good hands.

PINEHURST, N.C. - Golf has seen a bit of an upswing with fans in recent years, and this week the fans have shown just how much, as they turned out in big ways for the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina.

The USGA estimated that 250,000 people will make their way around the course this week, and even with blazing heat and humidity, that seemed like an underestimated number on Saturday.

Even without Tiger Woods around for the weekend, or the world's best golfer, Scottie Scheffler, in contention, the fans weren't dissuaded.

Pinehurst No. 2 has homes lining many of the holes, and enterprising groups have made the most of that, with party decks and celebrations happening to see over the temporary blackout fencing.

Saturday, the biggest crowds gathered around Bryson DeChambeau and Ludvig Aberg in the final pairing. And while the cheers were plenty loud for Aberg, it was DeChambeau that was getting the biggest support. At one point, DeChambeau actually apologized to fans for putting his driver back in his bag, and taking a safer approach with a long-iron.

Sunday will see another scorching day on the course, with DeChambeau looking solid to be in the hunt for another U.S. Open championship. If that does happen, the fans at Pinehurst No. 2 should be plenty happy.
