The last time the Devils won 51 games in a season was 2008-09. That club lost to Carolina in the Conference Quarterfinals. With one more game to go before the playoffs, New Jersey could set a franchise record for wins in a season.
Five different Devils lit the lamp on Tuesday, with Tomas Tatar leading the way with a pair of goals in the third period as Jersey pulled away.
Earlier goals by Jesper Boqvist and Jonas Siegenthaler helped New Jersey grab a hold of a 2-0 lead. They would never look back.
Miles Wood and Jack Hughes also scored for Jersey. For Hughes, his third period netter was his 43rd of the year. He also has 97 points on the season.

The Devils wrap up the regular season on Thursday at Washington.
Then it is all Devils vs. Rangers for the foreseeable future.
