It’s Now or Never for Giants Playoff Push
Before the season started there was not a lot expected of the Giants. They finally let go of the Gettlemen era and start fresh. A new general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll come and change everything.
Before they got here the team was going nowhere and no matter what they did nothing seemed to get better. It looked like there was no hope for Daniel Jones with his turnover problems. Saquon Barkley was always hurt making some question if the Giants should trade him. The offensive line was not getting any better no matter who they put in to protect Jones.
When Daboll came in the culture changed and it showed on the field. Through the first eight weeks of the season the team went 6-2 and looked to be a threat to teams in the NFC. Jones was playing great cutting down on the turnovers and making throws he didn’t make before this season. The offensive line was blocking and letting Barkley play like his usual self. During this time Barkley had 779 yards and was averaging 4.9 yards per game. The team as a whole was clicking. The defense was playing well getting stops when they needed them most and helping the team win close games.
After their bye this team has not come back the same before the break. From week 10 to right now their record is 1-3-1. Barkley’s averages has gone down averaging 3.5 per carry as teams are starting to figure them out. Make the Giants beat us with Jones because Barkley only needs one run for him to take over a game. With no number one receiver it is tough on Jones. He doesn’t have that one guy that can get a jump ball or create separation. No one for the defense to focus on so he can find others on the field.
The push for the playoffs has not gone the right way but they can still turn things around. As of now they are holding on for dear life to the last playoff spot. The road will not get any easier.
Lost twice to the Cowboys, tied with the Commanders and got blown out by the Eagles. The whole division is in the playoff race and they are playing their hardest part of the schedule. They still have to see the Eagles last week of the season, the Vikings on Christmas eve and the Commanders this Sunday night.
If they want to keep hold of that playoff spot and possibly climb up a spot or two they have to win starting with the Commanders. Every game from here on out is a must win.
