Nets Media Day
After a rocky 2021-2022 season and a turbulent offseason, the Nets are looking to move forward with a fresh start for the 2022-2023 season. The Nets have Kevin Durant back, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons. Expect the Nets to be the favorites to win it all once again. The biggest question is can they stay healthy?
In the beginning of last season, the Nets looked great, without Kyrie Irving they were first in the eastern conference and Durant was on an MVP campaign. When Durant went down with an injury the Nets were not the same. They went on a losing streak and brought back Irving part-time since he couldn’t play at home due to his vaccination status. The roller coaster of a season made James Harden request a trade and the Nets traded him for Simmons who has yet to play in a Nets uniform.
The Nets did pick up some good players this off-season. Markieff Morris, TJ Warren, Edmond Sumner, and Royce O’Neale. O’Neale is a great 3 and D player who can defend some of the best players on the wing for the Nets. A player to watch is Warren, he has been hurt since Dec. 29, 2020, from a stress fracture in his left foot. Warren is a player who can score at will and if he is healthy he can add value to this team.
During media day everyone was focused on Durant and Irving.
Durant breaks down the reason for his trade request over the summer.
“There was a lot of uncertainty around our team last year… We came to a mutual agreement that we should keep moving forward.”

Durant added that he is not surprised to still be a Net and that he knew the Nets couldn’t trade him for just anybody because he knows he is that good.
Irving answered some questions about his decision to stay unvaccinated.
"I gave up 4 years, $100-something million deciding to be unvaccinated. I had to deal with that real life circumstance of losing my job."

Simmons is back from his injury and ready for the season. He has played with Durant and Irving all week and said it looks incredible. He was also asked about how he feels about the narratives surrounding him.
"I don't care about narratives. I don't care about people saying certain things because I can't control that."

This team will have one of the best-talented rosters the league has ever seen. Can they put it together and make this a true championship team?
