Rutgers Host Wisconsin
The Rutgers men’s basketball team is set to host NO. 13 Wisconsin on Saturday at Jersey Mike’s Arena. Just two weeks ago Rutgers got their first win ever at Wisconsin. Last time out the Scarlet Knights lost to Michigan 71-62. This puts their overall record at 16-11 and Big Ten record at 10-7 and fifth in the conference.
This is Rutgers sixth ranked opponent in the last seven games. This is the first time in the program since 2008-09 season that they have played six of their seven games against ranked opponents. The Scarlet Knights had a historic run earlier playing four games straight against ranked teams and winning all four games.
Coming into this game Wisconsin has a Big Ten record of 13-4 tied for first with Purdue. Wisconsin has one of the best players not only in the conference but in the country in Johnny Davis. He is third in the Big Ten in scoring averaging, 20.6 points per game with 8.3 rebounds. Wisconsin is the best team at taking care of the ball, ranking first in the nation in turnovers.
The Scarlet Knights have been stellar at home this season with a record of 13-2 and averaging 68.3 points per game. This team can make some history with a win against Wisconsin. It would be the first time in program history to sweep a home-and-home series against a ranked opponent. They would have six ranked wins extending the number of wins against ranked opponents in one season. This could be the 14th ranked win under Coach Steven Pikiell.
This game will broadcast on the Big Ten Network at 6 p.m. or you can listen live on Fox Sports New Jersey 93.5-FM & 1450 AM.
