Rutgers’ Geo Baker Named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week
Rutgers senior guard Geo Baker has been named the Co-Player of the Week in the Big Ten, alongside Iowa’s Keegan Murray. Baker joins Paul Mulcahy, who was named All Met Player of the Week last week, as the two standout Scarlet Knights who have received high praise during RU’s winning streak.
The award marks the second time in Baker’s career that he won Big Ten Player of the Week and the second time an RU player has ever won the award.
In victories over Ohio State and Wisconsin, Baker scored a combined 41 points in the two games. 25 of those points came in Rutgers’ 66-64 victory over Ohio State. He played a team-high 38 minutes and added three rebounds.
“That was an old-fashioned Geo night,” Head Coach Steve Pikiell said. “25 points, and down the stretch he was confident. The fact that he had zero turnovers is a huge stat. He had to guard people today too. We were able to get it done.”
Baker made his way past RU legend Roy Hinson for 11th place all-time at RU in points with 1,550. He also joined Eddie Jordan as the only two players in program history to reach 1,550-plus points, 450-plus assists, 350-plus rebounds, and 150-plus steals.
