Going from Bad to Worse: Nets Skid Hits 11 Games
Even after a trade that rid themselves of the “unhappy” James Harden, the Nets still can’t figure out how to get back into the win column.
Brooklyn fell to the Miami Heat 115-111 for its 11th straight loss. Amazingly it’s not the longest losing streak in franchise history, but its getting close. The longest losing streak the Nets ever endured was 19 games accomplished over two seasons with the 2008-09 and 2009-10 New Jersey Nets.
Once again the Nets were shorthanded. Seth Curry, Andre Durmmond and Ben Simmons, whom the Nets acquired in the Harden trade were cleared to play. Of course Durant is still out with a knee injury.
That left the Nets with only Kyrie Irving, who remains a part-time road-games-only player for the Nets. He led the Nets with 29 points, 20 of them coming in the fourth quarter.
Brooklyn trailed Miami by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter, before back-to-back three-pointers by Patty Mills ignited a Nets comeback. Soon Irving nailed a couple of three’s of his own, and Brooklyn found itself down only five points, 95-90 with 7:38 to play.

Kyle Lowry quickly responded, putting the Heat on his back with a pair of jump shots and converted free throws to push the Miami lead back out to nine, 101-92.
The game would turn into a seasaw affair with Irving and Lowry basically going toe-to-toe and shot-for-shot against one another.
The game came down to the final seconds, with Irving having brought the Nets to within one-point 112-111, before Jimmy Butler made one of two free-throw attempts, and Cam Thomas’ errant pass resulted in free throws for Miami to ice the game.
