Kyrie Irving Fined $25K for Obscenity Directed at Fan
Kyrie Irving is once again in the news for all the wrong reasons for the Brooklyn Nets.
The star point guard, who has made headlines this season for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine, was fined $25,000 by the NBA for directing obscenities at a fan in Cleveland.
The incident took place Monday night in the second quarter of the Nets’ 114-107 loss to the Cavaliers. A fan could be heard heckling the former Cleveland Cavs All-Star, prompting Irving to shout back. A video of the incident was leaked online.

Irving scored 27 points over 38 minutes in the loss Monday to Cleveland. He posted 30 points on 13-of-23 shooting against Washington in the Nets narrow 119-118 win on Wednesday.
Irving is a part-time player right now due to his refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19. While he can play in most road games, Irving cannot participate in games played in New York City due to vaccination mandates.
The Nets (28-16) are a half game behind the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
