Rutgers Field Hockey Coaching Staff Gets Honored
Rutgers Field Hockey Head Coach Meridith Civico and her coaching staff were honored with the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach Staff of the Year award by the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association). Civico recieved the award alongside her assistants Maddy Sposito, Ajai Dhadwal and Joey Civico.
Together the guided Rutgers to a club record 19 wins, the program’s first ever Big 10 Tournament Championship, and the number 1 overall rank in the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.
The Scarlet Knights advanced all the way to the Elite Eight having defeated 17th ranked Delaware for Rutgers’ first tournament victory in 34 years. Rutgers would fall to Liberty by a 3-2 score in an overtime shootout in the Elite Eight match-up.
“I want to thank all of the members of our support staff, there’s so many people that made this all possible. Ajai, Maddy and Joey, you are the best of the best. There is no better coaching staff in the country,” Civico said.
