CBS Will Use 165 Cameras For Big Game in Vegas
It seems each year the Super Bowl does a great job of outdoing itself. This year the big game is in Las Vegas, so there’s going to be more flash. CBS, who is this year’s broadcaster partner, revealed fascinating numbers that includes using 165 cameras for their Super Bowl XLIII broadcast. In fact, some of the angles captured will be brand new.
Here Is The Big Game By The Numbers
“You’re going to want to make sure to stay in your seat every time someone attempts an extra point or field goal, because we’ll be unveiling the ‘doink’ cam this year,” CBS said. What exactly is a doink camera? Well, a few small cameras are actually being embedded into the goalpost uprights. When a kicker attempts a field goal or extra point, you may be able to experience the doink from the goalpost perspective.
Here are the other cameras being used for the Super Bowl:
- 24 cameras with 4K zoom extraction
- 3 drones
- 5 skycams
- 24 robotic cameras
- 20 endzone pylon cameras
- 5 depth-of-field-cameras
- 6 doink cameras inside the uprights
- 6 set cameras (Las Vegas strip and stadium)
- 49 replay machines
- 23 augmented reality cameras

CBS also reports 19 television mobile units. Furthermore, they will have over 600 recordimg and playback channels. This will be the league-leading 22nd Super Bowl broadcast by CBS.
Sports reporter Joe Pompliano explained yesterday that the Las Vegas airports expect over 1,000 private planes, and jets to be in and out of Sin City. “All local airports are fully booked — each plane will pay between $750 to $15,000 to park — and Henderson Airport added 18 acres of extra parking,” Pompliano posted to X.
In terms of ticket prices, those numbers are up as well. Desert News reported, “The average price is around $9,800, which is 70% more expensive than last year’s big game.” They also say here that front-row tickets range from $44,000 to $89,000, depending upon the option you choose.
For Chiefs and 49ers players that are some interesting numbers for Super Bowl XLIII as well. This will be the fifth Super Bowl appearance for Kansas City. They have won three titles in their franchise history. This will be the eight Super Bowl the 49ers will play in. San Francisco has five Super Bowl champion rings.
