Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano opened his weekly press conference by sending out well wishes and consolation to those mourning the loss of three Virginia University football players who were gunned down on Sunday evening in Charlottesville by an ex-player.
"I wish our prayers and thoughts to all those down at UVA. The victims and their families. It's a tragedy."
According to multiple reports the suspect, Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., an ex-football player at the University of Virginia, was arrested Monday morning and faces three charges of second-degree murder and three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony.
Police have not released or named a motive for the attack.
According to CNN, "Those killed were Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry, university President Jim Ryan said. The two wounded students are being treated at UVA Medical Center, with one in critical condition and the other in good condition, he said, declining to name them."
The attack took place on a bus that had returned to campus from Washington D.C. after the class had attended a play in the Nation's Capital.
