News is breaking this morning that Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin has shown “remarkable improvement” over the past 24 hours as he continues his long road to recovery from cardiac arrest during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

A statement from the Buffalo Bills read: “Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours. While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress,” the team said. “We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”

Since suffering the cardiac arrest on Monday, and the heroic treatment made by EMS and stadium personal to revive Hamlin on the field and get him to the hospital, the outpouring of support continues to blow friends and family away. Hamlin’s charity The Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive has shot past $7 million in donations.

The NFL has not decided when, or how it will make-up the Bills-Bengals game in which Hamlin was injured. As it stands, Week 18, the final week of the regular season will go on as scheduled. The Bills, Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs were all vying for the AFC’s top playoff seed.
