When it comes to the world of beer, a diverse and ever-growing array of choices awaits beer lovers. Some brands have become popular, becoming staples in gatherings, bars, and households. The journey to becoming a popular beer is influenced by taste, marketing, cultural significance, and social media buzz.

A recent survey conducted by the market research firm YouGov examined the awareness and favorability of 75 different beer brands. They surveyed 1,400 Americans between April and June. Based on the survey, the top ten most popular beers include Guinness, Corona, Heineken, Samuel Adams, Blue Moon, Budweiser, Modelo, Corona Extra, Stella Artois, and Coors.

The survey also reveals that Ireland's well-known beer, Guinness, is the most popular choice among respondents. With 98% recognition and a favorable rating of 58%. These numbers increased since last year having 91% recognition and a popularity rating of 50%.

For Millennials, the top five most popular beers were Guinness, Modelo, White Claw, Bud Light, and Blue Moon. Gen X-ers favored Guinness, Corona, Heineken, Stella Artois, and Samuel Adams. Meanwhile, the top five beers for Baby Boomers were Samuel Adams, Guinness, Heineken, Corona, and Blue Moon.

Comparing the current rankings to their previous year's results, the top ten most popular beers showed slight variations. With  Guinness, Heineken, Corona, Samuel Adams, Budweiser, Miller, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, Bud Light, and Dos Equis making last year's list.

While Bud Light had the highest recognition rate at 98%, its popularity was only 42%. It faced some controversies due to its one-time sponsorship of a transgender social media influencer. This move resulted in boycotts and declining sales.

According to USA Today, Modelo Especial surpassed Bud Light as the top-selling beer brand in the U.S. in both May and June. In the survey, Bud Light dropped to the 15th most popular beer brand, down from its ninth position last year.

Guinness has a rich history in the U.S., with records dating back to 1817 when it was first brought to the country. In 2018, the Diageo-owned beermaker opened the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, Maryland, marking its first U.S. brewery in over six decades. Another Open Gate Brewery is opening in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood later in the summer. Despite its U.S. presence, the iconic Guinness stout is still brewed in Ireland, but it remains a top choice for many Americans.
