Like two cool cats, Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh and General Manager Joe Douglas didn't mince words when it came to the franchise's pursuit of Aaron Rodgers. Without saying so directly, they are all in.
"I'm confident that things will go the way we're hoping. But at the same time, it's not going to eat at me," Saleh told reporters on Monday.
While acknowledging he couldn't say much about the situation since Rodgers was still a Green Bay Packer, he did echo that the Jets are trying to build an offense presumably around him, and that it helps to have Rodgers' old offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on board to assist in the process.
Douglas added that the Jets are still in the process of negotiating with Green Bay. Rumors have swirled for days that both the Jets and Packers are at an impasse on a deal.
When pressed whether the Jets would have any interest in disgruntled Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is 13-years younger than Rodgers, Douglas called such a tactic "disingenuous and negotiating in bad faith."
In short, one way or the other Aaron Rodgers will be the Jets quarterback in 2023.
