I love girl scout cookies, and what I love even more is supporting the Girl Scouts of New Jersey. I've had the pleasure of meeting members of the organization at events. So it's really alarming to me to know that they might be hurting because of a national workforce shortage.
From People.com We now see some of the effects of the shortage as Girl scout cookies are being resold in droves for prices way beyond the market value. One such cookie flavor is the Raspberry Rally. Which debuted at the beginning of the year and has already sold out. Cookie sales usually run between $4 to $7 a box. They are now being resold online for anywhere from $25-$40 for one box, and upwards of $300 for a bundle.
New Jersey Girl Scouts are also feeling some of the hardships as the sales were delayed by several weeks. Due to a warehouse and workforce shortage among other issues. This is with Little Brownie Bakery (LBB). Despite this, the people in charge did devise a plan in order to combat some of the outlined issues now that the cookie season has officially started.
Though what does that mean for the supply of cookies such as the Raspberry Rally? Well, unlike the others in the lineup, Raspberry Rally was digital purchases only, and the end date for "digital cookie" which ships from LBB right to consumers is this weekend.
The end of the program for this season is this weekend the 12th as well. So while they may have been able to make it this time. When the cookies come back who knows what will happen? Meanwhile for the resale market sites like eBay have stated that the resale doesn't break terms of service, so not much can realistically be done.
