DEVILS 5 - COYOTE 4 - OT
Nico Hischier had a flare of the dramatic on Sunday night as his shot from the top of the circles some 23 seconds into overtime was the game winner as the Devils outlasted the Arizona Coyotes 5-4 in the Desert.
The Devils built a 4-2 lead before Arizona stormed back to score a pair of goals in the third period to tie the game. That also set up the Devils captain who took a pass near center ice, skated down the rink virtually unchallenged before taking a wrist shot at the top of the circle, and watched the puck glide under the glove of goalie Connor Ingram.
Timo Meier, Dam Serveson and Jesper Boqvist (two goals) all scored goals for the Devils in the victory. Jersey has now won four of its last five, and will return home to face Toronto on Tuesday.
