A major statement was sent by the Rutgers women's basketball team on Thursday night. A message that reads loud and clear: "We are on our way."
The Scarlet Knights stunned Penn State in an overtime thriller 86-82 to improve to 9-13 on the year and 3-7 in Big Ten Conference play.
"We played hard and gave ourselves an opportunity to win the game in the fourth quarter," said head coach Coquese Washington. "That is one of the things that we talk about, just giving ourselves a chance in the fourth quarter and see what happens, especially at home. I just thought that we had a tremendous effort."
All eight Scarlet Knights scored in the victory, with Kai Carter providing the biggest night -- leading the way with 17 points, and notching her 500th career rebound. Carter also owns 1,000 points in her career.
