The National League Championship Series is all set.

It will be the Philadelphia Phillies against the San Diego Padres.

Wait? You didn't have that on your 2022 MLB Playoff Bingo Card?

Yup, it's true. Phillies-Padres.

The Phillies advanced their first NLCS appearance in 12 years with an 8-3 win over the Atlanta Braves to win that series 3-1.  Former Met Noah Syndergaard got the start, and held Atlanta to just a run over three innings of work.

Brandon Marsh hit a three-run bomb in the second inning for Philly, and J.T. Realmuto hit an inside the park hoomer as Philly ran away with it.

Meanwhile out west, the Padres stunned the 111-win Dodgers 5-3 to eliminate LA from the playoffs. The Padres trailed 3-0 before rallying for five runs in the seventh inning. Jake Cronenworth's two-run single was the game winner.

No 100-Game Winners in NLCS

In a year where the Mets, Braves and Dodgers all won over 100 games this season, neither will appear in the NLCS. Instead the Phillies (87 wins) and Padres (89 wins) will meet up. Both teams were ranked 5th and 6th in the playoff format for the NL. Guess MLB must love the idea of expanded playoffs now.

Astros Survive and Advance

The Houston Astros are the only 100 win team in an LCS this year. They survived and advanced after a wild 18-inning marathon with Seattle. They will face the winner of the Yankees-Guardians series.
