RUTGERS 3 – INDIANA 1

There is a new champion in Big Ten men’s soccer and it is Rutgers!

With a packed crowd behind them at Yurcak Field, the Scarlet Knights staged a thrilling second half as they ousted the Indiana Hoosiers 3-1 to capture the program’s first ever Big Ten Tournament title, and first conference title overall in program history since 1997.

Ola Maeland provided the game deciding goal in the 54th minute that sent the entire Rutgers sideline and Yurcak Field into a tizzy. Maeland even did a somersault after scoring the goal, an image that has taken Twitter by storm!

Ian Abby put the finishing touches on the title with his fourth goal of the year in the 85th minute. Matthew Acosta scored the opening goal of the game in the first half.

According to Rutgers Athletics, The NCAA Championship bracket and 48-team field will be revealed on Monday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. on the Selection show. Sixteen single-elimination first-round games will take place at campus sites on Thursday, November 17. It will be Rutgers first NCAA Berth since 2015.
