BADA BING! Sopranos Star Steve Schirripa to Make Appearance at Somerset Patriots
Actor Steve Schirripa of The Sopranos and Blue Bloods will be making a special guest appearance at TD Bank Ballpark, the home of the Yankees Double-A affiliate, Somerset Patriots, this coming summer for Sopranos Night on June 1.
Schirripa, who played Bobby Bacala on the beloved HBO hit series from 2000 through 2007, announced via social media donning a Somerset Patriots pinstripe jersey. He was joined by his dog Willie Boy.
Schirripa along with many other members of The Sopranos cast have been busy promoting the 25th anniversary of the series which changed the course of history for televised dramas.
Shows like HBO’s Game of Thrones, AMC’s Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Showtimes Ray Donovan, and Netflix’s House of Cards and The Crown, all followed The Sopranos’ footsteps as some of the biggest dramas to hit television, and more recently, streaming over the years.
The drama which starred the late James Gandolfini in the titular role of Tony Soprano, told the story of a New Jersey family with deep roots to the mafia. However, unlike classics like The Godfather and Goodfellas, The Sopranos brought the mob narrative home to the suburbs of New Jersey.
According to a press release: “Schirripa will be participating in a VIP Meet and Greet with fans on the Party Deck before the game. He will then welcome the crowd and throw out the ceremonial first pitch before taking pictures and signing autographs on the main concourse during the game. In addition, Schirripa’s social media star dog Willie will also be in attendance to meet fans and enjoy the event.”
The VIP Meet & Greet will be $150 which includes autographs and photos, and a Sopranos-themed buffet.
Tickets for the game can be purchased online at somersetpatriots.com, by calling (908) 252-0700 or by visiting the box office located at TD Bank Ballpark.
