Tommy DeVito Pizzeria Visit Canceled After Appearance Fee Doubles
If losing to the Saints wasn’t bad enough for the New York Giants, a report surfaced late Sunday indicating that an appearance by quarterback Tommy DeVito at a New Jersey pizzeria will not happen because his appearance fee was doubled to $20,000.
Darren Rovell, a former ESPN sports business reporter who now works for the Action Network reported the story. According to Rovell, Coniglio’s Pizzeria and Bakery in Morristown was to host DeVito for an autograph signing, but the pizzeria canceled when the appearance fee jumped up from $10,000 to $20,000.
The event, which was scheduled for Tuesday, December 19 at 6 p.m. was advertised on the Morristown Patch.
Rovell quotes the agent of Tommy DeVito, Sean Stellato as saying, “It’s a shame that the restaurant promoted that they would have Tommy when we didn’t sign a contract. We didn’t raise the price because nothing was agreed to.”
Rovell later revealed on X — formally known as Twitter — that he contacted the owner of the restaurant who claimed that there was an agreement “in principle.”
No further updates have been provided to this story at this time.
In all fairness to DeVito, he has been making a lot of public appearances. In fact he is scheduled to appear at Bubbakoo’s Burrito’s in Livingston, Tuesday afternoon to support the Eric LeGrand Foundation.
DeVito is 3-2 as a starter since taking over for injured Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor. The Giants lost to the Saints Sunday 24-6 to drop to 5-9 on the season.
