According to a report released Monday by NJ.com, Rutgers wide receiver Taj Harris is stepping away from the Rutgers football program for personal reasons.
Harris released a statement through Twitter.
Harris transferred to Rutgers in the spring after playing at Syracuse. Last weekend in his first game as a Scarlet Knight, Harris had one catch and played in only 11 snaps. Rutgers opens its home schedule on Saturday against Wagner.
“It’s just competition,” Head Coach Greg Schiano said during his Monday Press Conference. “We have a lot of guys playing. You saw we played a lot of guys in a lot of positions. That was on purpose. ... There was nothing other than playing a lot of people.”
