Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (6-6, 50-31) defeated the Bowie Baysox (7-5, 34-47) by a final score of 3–1 before a crowd of 6,874 at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday night. 

Bowie struck first in the top of the second on a Greg Cullen RBI double that scored Joseph Oritz from second. 

Austin Wells later knocked in Anthony Volpe on a double to left field to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second. It was Wells’ first RBI as a Patriot.  

The following inning, Jesus Bastidas (9) launched a two-run shot to straight away center for the 3-1 final. Bastidas has now matched a career high in home runs in a season. 

Sean Boyle (6-4) allowed an earned run and struck out seven batters through six innings to earn the win. In two starts this series, Boyle threw a combined 13 innings and allowed two earned runs with 13 strikeouts. 

Ryan Watson (5-4) suffered the loss after he allowed three earned runs across five innings.  

Carson Coleman (6) recorded the final three outs of the game to pick up the save. Coleman is now 6-for-6 in save opportunities with Somerset. 

The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road on Tuesday, July 12 with a 6:00 pm game against the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) at Hadlock Field.
