SAMANTHA ACKERMAN
First Grade Teacher

Step into her classroom and you find an outstanding teacher who creates a magical learning environment for her students. Samantha spends countless hours devoted to her students and school community. She effortlessly makes learning FUN!
Samantha’s creativity transforms her classroom to become a unique learning environment. She has turned her classroom in a camping adventure, ice cream shop and a football game that are all linked to the learning standards. Samantha believes in continually educating herself with attending professional development and reading professional literature to become a better teacher for her students.
Samantha whole heartly volunteers for various committees within our school community. She an active member of the Cultural Awareness Committee, District Equity Team, VDV Sunfish (fostering staff happiness), literacy events and Girls on the Run. Samantha also serves on our school IR&S committee. Last year Sam created a video on Recycling for the VELA – VDV Evening Learning Academy and this year she helped create videos for teachers to view and led an after school session on effective American Reading Company small groups. She participates each year at the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics.
