The Big Game is known for many things, incredible plays, and dramatic moments. It’s oftentimes funny and sometimes strange commercials, and who could forget the halftime show? We certainly didn’t. But with so many since the first one in 1967, which was are the best halftime performances ever?

This year Rihanna is stepping up to the big stage, and we wish her the best of luck, but what about in years past? Which artists were able to make a massive impact during their performance enough to where they are considered to be the best?

Well, FOX Sports made a listing of the top ten of all time and it’s interesting, to say the least. So what did they put at the top? Let’s find out!

  • 10. Katy Perry (2015)

Now the original list starts off with a three-way tie between, Bruno Mars(2014), Janet Jackson(2004), and Katy Perry (2015). First of all, I don’t believe these are even close. While 2004 Janet Jackson had an amazing performance despite the wardrobe malfunction which caused massive undeserved damage to her career and featured several guests. There is a massive gap in technology as shown by Katy Perry’s shifting stage and flying performance. So it’s unfair to even have these two next to each other. As for Bruno, there was nothing wrong with his performance, but comparing the two there’s a notable difference.

  • 9. Janet Jackson (2004)

I’m making this change for one reason and one reason only. The original ranking had Coldplay’s (2016) spot here. While the writer does say their performance was carried by the guests. Which it was. You’re nuts if that makes it anything other than bland. At least in my opinion. Therefore I am bumping up Janet’s show as the crowd was massive, the guests were electric and diverse and it was overall a better show.

  • 8. Aerosmith, Britney Spears, 'NSync, Nelly & Mary J. Blige. (2001)

Bring rock to the stage I agree at this show was a bit of a mess, but so was that era of the late ’90s and early 2000s. Live broadcasting was just starting to become a massive industry, as well as the .com crash had just happened the previous year. I do think they should have let Britney Spears do more, but overall it was an okay show.

  • 7. Madonna (2012)

Another classic performance, this time coming from Madonna. 2012 is what 2016 should have been. With a massive entrance. Madonna’s performance is argued to be one of the greatest of all time. I feel like it did raise the bar and helped lead some of the previous and yet-to-be-mentioned performances. On top of that, Madonna was just amazing, giving off a family-friendly vibe, while flipping off the camera.

  • 6. Lady Gaga (2017)

This show was the comeback to the previous year’s snore fest. Lady Gaga jumping off the top of the stadium and then knocking her performance out of the park while dancing and doing acrobatics?! That’s a massive flex and gives it an A+ in my book. It’s also well known for the Simpsons conspiracy theory as they predicted she would be performing and using flying wires in her show five years before she did it.

  • 5. Bruce Springsteen (2009)

Breaking into the number five spot is a Jersey native who knows how to rock! Bruce Springsteen’s 2009 performance may not have had a movie stage and he may not have jumped off a building, but he knew how to entertain a crowd. With some pyrotechnics added into the mix that shows slapped.

  • 4. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent (2022)

One of the best big game shows around it’s proof that snoop dog is just doing side quests at this point. You had some many influential artists on stage and each got the respect they deserved. So from a show standpoint, it’s one of the better-executed ones in my book.

  • 3. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira (2020)

The list points out that Dre and his massive group put on a more cohesive show. They make several good points about J-Lo and Shakira rocking out on the stage despite their age. I mean such a festive and energetic performance has to be included in the top three.

  • 2. Beyoncé (2013)

Don’t worry we are giving Beyoncé the credit she deserves as a one-woman performance she shook the stage! Shooting fire out of a guitar and giving an all woman performance is a massive win. So for those reasons and the added bonus that Beyoncé just killed it, she makes the number two spot.

  • 1. Prince (2007)

When considering the performance itself. Prince’s 2007 show was great. It’s when you consider the smaller details like Prince using four different electric guitars. His dancers wore 8-inch heels and the stage was made out of a tile. All while it was raining that you really appreciate how amazing of a job they all did. Anything could have gone wrong at any time, even more so when considering that Prince was even doing other artists’ songs. Making Prince the best big game show around. Will this year make it to the top 10? We will see.
