This year’s Big Game ended in a massive win for Kansas City, much to the dismay and displeasure of Philly fans. While the result may not be up to everybody’s liking. The Halftime show and the commercials shown during the game were met with joy and maybe a bit of frustration.

This year it was reported by Fox Sports that most thirty-second ads could cost anywhere from six to seven million dollars! So at a minimum if an ad goes for a minute they would be paying twelve million. However when you consider this is being reported as the second most-watched Big game in football history. The price might be a needed step.

Though how was the quality this year? And how does it hold up to some of the other well-known ads we’ve seen in the past few decades? Let’s find out as we list some of the best Big Game ads over the years.

  • 1979 Coca-Cola: Mean Joe Greene

While this commercial may be a fading memory to the newer generation I was young enough to see it mentioned in other pop culture shows and as for the commercial itself. I think it still holds up today and some of the people I know still quote “You can have it!”.

  • 2013 Best Buy: Asking Amy

Parks and Recreation holds a speical place in my heart, so seeing the character Leslie Knope played by Amy Poehler, bothering a Best Buy employee in that classic Leslie way. Just gives off positive vibes it made me laugh then and made me laugh now.

  • 2015 Snickers: Brady Bunch

While I may not be too familiar with the Brady Bunch, firstly the recreated an iconic scene, but you don’t fully have to to understand that. Because this commercial is hilarious all on its own. Though to be honest of all commercials, I think old school snickers had it in the bag. However, this isn’t my favorite commercial from the company that one is next.

  • 2010 Snickers: Betty White and Abe Vigoda

It is a tragedy that we lost such a talented woman, however before Betty White’s passing she gave us numerous things to remember her by. One is this commercial where someone is “Playing like Betty White.” and something about Betty White throwing an insult right back just hits the right funny bone. of course seeing Abe be the QB and get sacked is the cherry on the top.

  • 2012 Doritos: Birds of Prey

Doritos might just be one of the most well known and liked for their Big Game ads. With so many great and classic ones how could you choose. Well for me it was a tough choice but a I was cry laughing at the Birds of Prey commercial. It’s quick, and effective.

  • 2012: Volkswagen: The Force

This one is just wholesome I mean really. Seeing the kid look back at his house I can feel that. It feels like real and genuine excitement. It’s also funny seeing the kid try and force lift the dog and the dog is not having it.

  • 2014: Budweiser: Puppy Love

I’ll be the first to admit it, these string of commercials made me tear up a bit. They are heart warming to the core and will forever be some of my favorite.

  • 2023 Sam Adams: Your Cousin’s Brighter Boston

  • 2023 Tubi: Interface Interruption

I have to say this is by far one of the best commercial’s I’ve seen, and it certainly caused a lot of confusion and fights during the big game. As many watching at home were in panic mode when the screen switched as if someone was sitting or messing with the remote. Even more confusion for those who actually use Tubi. It was the most talked about ad of the night for sure.
