EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - AUGUST 26: Tyrod Taylor #2 of the New York Giants throws a pass against the New York Jets during a preseason game at MetLife Stadium on August 26, 2023 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Mike Stobe/Getty Images)

So there is this little football game that is scheduled to take place on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. It will feature the New York Jets and New York Giants. Not a big deal, right?

The battle of New York Bragging rights is a big one this year. Both teams are in dire need of a victory. The Jets are coming off a bye week in Week 7, and are riding high from their thrilling 20-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago.

Head Coach Robert Saleh boasted after the win that the Jets went through the gauntlet of their schedule, and flustered some of the games best quarterbacks: Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts, more specifically.

Now the Jets see a different kind of quarterback, one that doesn’t have the resume of the aforementioned above. Tyrod Taylor doesn’t jump off the pages. He won’t thrill you with his arm, nor his size. But in two games since taking over for the injured Daniel Jones, Taylor has done enough.

Taylor will join Jets quarterback Zach Wilson at the center of the storm.

It’s ironic, neither quarterback was expected to play this game as recently as Week 1 of this season. It was supposed to be Jones vs. Aaron Rodgers.

The winner will be determined on two simple things: turnovers and running the football. Breece Hall must take pressure off of Zach Wilson for the Jets to succeed. Saquon Barkley must take over the game and make like easier for Tyrod Taylor.

Who will win? Look below!!

  • NY Jets (3-3) (-3.0) @ NY Giants (2-5)

This is a pretty dead-even matchup between two desperate teams. The Jets enter with a slight edge because their defense has been incredible especially in the second half of games. The Giants defense has picked it up of late, highlighted by last week’s six-sack effort against Washington.

Mistakes are going to matter in this one. Both Tyrod Taylor and Zach Wilson — for the most part — have taken care of the ball. That will get challenged this week.

Expect an absolutely ugly football game with rain in the forecast.
    PICK: JETS 16 – GIANTS 12

  • L.A. Rams (3-4) @ Dallas (5-2)

Gonna be a tough spot for the Rams who come in having lost to the Steelers at home. Now they head to Dallas to face a Cowboys team that has won 10 straight at home and is coming off a bye week. The Boys are fairly healthy with a their complete starting offensive line in tack for this one. That is huge when going up against pass rushing wiz Aaron Donald. Look for Dak Prescott to have another solid day for for Dallas to find a way against the suddenly lowly Rams.
    PICK: COWBOYS 27 – RAMS 17

  • Jacksonville (5-2) (-2.0) @ Pittsburgh (4-2)

This is very tough one to call. The Steelers are playing well, having won two straight with wins against the Ravens and Rams. That said the offense has been unspectacular. The Steelers ground game has been grounded for the most part, and quarterback Kenny Pickett is doing just enough to win games. That’s why they are 31st in total offense. Pittsburgh defense is the only reason they are 4-2 with a +6 turnover ratio. The Jaguars had a little extra rest after playing on a Thursday night last week, so expect them to be ready to roll. The Jags travel well, and have a history of playing well in the Steel City. Expect Trevor Lawrence and crew to edge out a prickly Steelers team. PICK: JAGUARS 24 – STEELERS 20

  • Cleveland (4-2) @ Seattle (4-2) (-3.5)

If you need a reason to watch this game, here is one: The Seahawks are bringing back their classic original uniforms that they wore from 1976 to 2001. These are so legit.

The Titans are also bringing back the Oilers uniforms on Sunday when they host the Falcons.

Nothing beats football uniforms from the time I grew up in the 90s. Gotta love it. As for this game, the Seahawks have an opportunity to make a move in the NFC West with the 49ers dealing with a slew of injuries. This is a bad spot for the Browns.

    PICK: Seahawks 23 – Browns 10.

  • Cincinnati (3-3) @ San Francisco (5-2) (-5.5)

What a fascinating matchup! Brock Purdy is a game time decision at this point with a concussion.  If he can’t go ex-Jet quarterback Sam Darnold will get the start for the 49ers. The Niners will also be without Deebo Samuel.

This should play right into the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals who come in with a 3-3 record. The Bengals had to win three of four to get back to .500 and need this to be over the .500 for the first time this year. Joe Burrow is fully healthy now for the Bengals.

Easy Bengals win, right? Not so fast.

This is a tough spot for the Bengals. The Niners have Christian McCaffery in the backfield, so expect a heavy dose of runs, and the Niners still have one of the League’s best defenses. Even without Purdy, it’s hard to believe the Niners will lose three in a row.

    PICK: 49ERS 27 – BENGALS 24
