New York Jets fans were back to their old tricks during the NFL Draft.
Not even 48 hours after the team secured Aaron Rodgers as its starting quarterback for this season, were fans once again upset at upper management for the way it handled the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night when Gang Green selected defensive end Will McDonald IV out of Iowa State with the 15th overall pick.
The Jets had lost out on all four Offensive Tackles — a risk that was likely after the Jets flipped picks with the Green Bay Packers in the Aaron Rodgers trade.
Jets fans watched Arizona select Ohio State offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. sixth overall; watched the Bears take Darnell Wright with the 10th overall pick; the Titans select Pete Skoronski with the 11th overall pick; and, finally, the ultimate gut punch came when Bill Belichick and the Patriots traded out of the 14th overall pick, sending it to the Pittsburgh Steelers who selected Broderick Jones.
There was nowhere for the Jets to go. The Jets didn’t find a taker to trade down and wound up taking McDonald who wasn’t that highly ranked. The collective wailing from Jets fans was epic on social media.
