Lebron James celebrates his 39th birthday on December 30th.

LeBron Raymone James Sr, otherwise known as “King James,” was born on December 30th, 1984. In 2023 he will be turning 39 years old and is still going strong as one of the most dominant players in the NBA. LeBron is often regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time and is always put up against Michael Jordan in the GOAT conversation. He is the highest scorer in NBA history and holds the record for fourth most career assists. LeBron’s path to stardom started well before the NBA, back when he was still a highschooler in Akron, Ohio. James became the first sophomore to be named Ohio Mr. Basketball and selected for the USA Today All-USA First Team. LeBron could have been a great NFL player too! He played as a wide receiver in high school and was even being recruited by Notre Dame before he committed to the NBA.

LeBron’s work ethic and standout talent as a highschooler lead to him being drafted to the Cleveland Cavaliers right out of high school. He became the youngest player in history to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award. From there he continued to smash records setting Cleveland’s single game points record with 56 points against the Toronto Raptors.
To this day James is still one of the most dominant players on the court. He came into the 2023-2024 season as the oldest player in the league. In a blowout victory against the Utah Jazz he became the first NBA player to reach 39,000 points.

In addition to basketball LeBron has proven himself to invaluable off the court as well. His various charitable endeavors have seen him give back to underprivileged students in Akron. He is helping elementary students stay in school and providing college scholarships.
