East Side Dave’s Opinionated Sports Opinion: The Giants Giving Away A Medium-Sized Soda On Fan Appreciation Day Is Embarrassing Yet Unsurprising
East Side Dave (of the Morning Rat Race) here. Well, the football franchise that I have rooted for my entire life, the New York Football Giants, have reached a new pathetic low. The Giants declared that yesterday's game against the Dallas Cowboys was Fan Appreciation Day. And what did the esteemed Giants organization do to "honor" this immensely loyal fanbase that has spent thousands of dollars going to games? They gave each season ticket account holder...........ONE MEDIUM-SIZED SODA. Now, when the Yankees do Fan Appreciation Days, they give away actual wooden baseball bats, or a custom-made poster, or a fun batting helmet, or a cool bobble-head doll. You know...something that the fans can actually COLLECT!! Who the hell can collect a soda?! You can't display a damned soda in your sports memorabilia room! "Here's my Eli Manning-signed football, my Michael Strahan-worn Jersey, and this prestigious medium-sized soda!" And that's not all! Because the sodas were only given to season ticket ACCOUNT holders...it only meant ONE soda per account! So, if you're a family of five but dad was the one who bought the season tickets? Only dad gets the soda...the wife & kids gotta drink water and kick rocks! Oh, and by the way, the G-Men looked dreadful (yet again) on the field as they lost to the Dallas Cowboys in ugly fashion, 21 to 6. Shameful! The Giants organization needs to clean house STAT! I can't take it anymore!! - East Side Dave [caption id="attachment_785554" align="aligncenter" width="762"] EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - DECEMBER 19: Mike Glennon #2 of the New York Giants reacts after a play during the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on December 19, 2021 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
