Five Must See Games for NFL Week 5

It is Week 5 in the National Football League, and we enter this critical week with a number of teams needing victories in the worst way possible.

21 teams come into the week with records of 2-2 or worse. So the playoff races, especially in the AFC, are wide open. That means for a team like the Jets (1-3), Sunday’s game in Denver is a huge opportunity.

The Jets have been labeled a playoff team for months coming into the year. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers believes he can have a miracle recovery and play for Gang Green come January. If Rodgers notion is to be a reality, the Jets need a win in Denver this week.

On the flip side, the 1-3 Giants look like a team whose wheels have fallen off. The Giants have scored the fewest points in the NFL with 46. Their offensive line can’t protect Daniel Jones, and Jones keeps turning the ball over. Wins cure a lot of ills, and the Giants need an upset to turn jeers to cheers.

  • NY Giants (1-3) @ Miami (3-1) (-12.0)

    The good news for the Giants this week is that offensive tackle Evan Neal gets to play on the road this week in South Beach. If the game were at MetLife, he would get relentlessly booed by Giants fans after his ridiculous comments about the fanbase this week. Meanwhile it appeared that Daniel Jones and head coach Brian Daboll aren’t on the same page as Big Blue once again failed to reach the end zone in Monday’s 24-3 loss to Seattle. The Dolphins are coming off a loss to Buffalo, and considering they posted 70 points two weeks ago, this could get ugly.
    PICK DOLPHINS 35, GIANTS 22

  • NY Jets (1-3) @ Denver (1-3) (-2.5)

    This is a must win game for both of these teams. Both clubs need this one if either wants to be a playoff team. The Jets come in with both desperation and revenge on their mind. Revenge against Denver head coach Sean Payton who lambasted Jets O.C. Nathaniel Hackett for his handling of the Broncos when he was its head coach a year ago. Revenge for Breece Hall and Alijah Vera-Tucker who suffered season ending injuries just a year ago on this same field. Revenge for last week’s frustrating 23-20 loss. Has Zach Wilson turned the corner? We will find out. He needs to start staking good performances to quiet the doubters. On the flip side Russell Wilson gets his shot at the Jets. He didn’t see this team a year ago when he was hurt. How the Jets defense handles the ex-Seahawks quarterback will tilt the winner of this one.
    PICK: JETS 23 – BRONCOS 19

  • Jacksonville (2-2) vs. Buffalo (3-1) (-5.5)

    Wake up early for some good ole football in merry ole England. The Jaguars and Bills meet in London on Sunday. The Bills are riding a head of steam right now having won three in a row. Bills quarterback Josh Allen has thrown eight touchdowns and one pick in those three games. Will be interesting to see how jetlag plays a role in this one. The Jaguars have been in the UK for two weeks, while Buffalo is just flying over on Friday.

    PICK: BILLS 27 – JAGUARS 24 

  • Kansas City (4-1) (-3.5) @ Minnesota (1-3)

    The Kansas City Swifties make their to Minny to face the desperate Vikings.  The Chiefs were lucky to escape New York with a victory, thanks in major part to some bad calls by the refs in that game against the Jets.  If the Chiefs are to win this, they have to run the ball with Isiah Pacheco. The former Rutgers product gashed the Jets for 115 yards on Sunday. This figures to be a track meet, since the Vikings almost always end up in high scoring affairs at home. This will be no different.  If the Vikings are going to quiet the Kirk Cousin’s trade talks, and get back into the playoff race, they need this one.

    PICK: CHIEFS 35 – VIKINGS 31 

  • Dallas (3-1) @ San Francisco (4-0) (-4..0)

    With no disrespect to the Philadelphia Eagles, this could be a a NFC title preview on Sunday night. If not, it would shock no one to see these two meet in the playoffs at some point this coming January.  The Cowboys have dropped two straight to the Niners, both of them brutal playoff losses the last two years. There will be some pressure on Dak Prescott and company to finally slay the dragon. As for Brock Purdy and the Niners, they’ve had that championship look since the opener.

    PICK: 49ers 30 – COWBOYS 28
