The 2023 Season is well underway, and with it we are already seeing some storylines nobody expected:(Aaron Rodgers and the Jets this means you, of course). Let’s take a look at the five biggest match-ups of the weekend!!

• NY GIANTS (0-1) (-4.0) @ ARIZONA CARDINALS (0-1)

  The Giants got their butts kicked last week against the Dallas Cowboys to the tune of 40-0. It was the most lopsided loss in Giants history to open a season. Big Blue’s offensive line was ravaged in the game as quarterback Daniel Jones was sacked seven times. Running back Saquon Barkley was shut down as well, held to just 51 yards on 12 carries. The Giants must get a win this week against the lowly Cardinals or Giants fans will be apoplectic. Fortunately for Big Blue, the Cardinals are possibly the NFL’s least talented roster. They are in a transition year, but aren’t a team to take lightly either.
  PICK: GIANTS 27 – CARDINALS 9

• NEW YORK JETS (1-0) @ DALLAS COWBOYS (1-0) (-9.5)

  When the schedule came out in May, the idea of Aaron Rodgers going back to Dallas to face his old coach Mike McCarthy was must see-TV. Now? Not so much. With Rodgers out for the year with a torn Achilles tendon, it’s back to square one for the Jets offense as Zach Wilson takes over. Wilson was adequate against Buffalo in Week 1. He can’t afford to make mistakes if the Jets are to have a chance. Gang Green’s defense which forced four takeaway’s of Josh Allen, must be on point against Dak Prescott and company.

  The Cowboys crushed the Giants last week. Their defense will be up to the task against the Jets suspect offensive line, and a quarterback in Wilson who has a tendency to be indecisive.

  PICK: COWBOYS 27 – JETS 7 

• KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (0-1) (-3.5) @ JACKSONVILLE (1-0)

  A playoff rematch. The Chiefs are in a rare must-win situation. While KC has Chris Jones back after his hold out ended, tight end Travis Kelce is still questionable with a knee injury. If he can’t go, it could hinder the Chiefs offense. Patrick Mahomes is all world, but the weapons around him were suspect last week against Detroit.

  The Jaguars tried to cough the opener up against Indianapolis before rallying for two late-fourth quarter touchdowns to win 31-21. Trevor Lawrence was good, but receiver Calvin Ridely was better with 101 yards on eight receptions.

  This could be a huge swing game that will have playoff implications down the road. The hunch is Kelce plays, and the Chiefs get back on track in a wild one.

  PICK: CHIEFS 27 – JAGUARS 24 

• LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (1-0) @ BUFFALO BILLS (1-0) (-8.0)

  The Buffalo Bills are also in must win mode this week after coming up flat against the Jets. Gang Green may have exposed some things with Buffalo, namely that a decent pass rush can get quarterback Josh Allen off his game. Allen is the NFL’s most turnover prone quarterback, and it showed last week. He must protect the football better if Buffalo is to get back on track as one of the NFL’s upper tier teams.

  The Raiders squeaked one out last week, 17-16, against the Denver Broncos. Jimmy G was good, if not unspectacular in throwing a couple of touchdowns. The Raiders defense did a nice job against Russell Wilson and the Broncos, but this is a different animal in Buffalo.

  PICK: BILLS 31 – RAIDERS 16 

• MIAMI DOLPHINS (1-0) (-3.0) @ NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (0-1)

  Easily the most intriguing game of the week. The Dolphins won a shootout with the Chargers 36-34 last week. Tua Tagovailoa looks like a totally different player, tossing for 466 yards and three touchdowns last week. Tyreek Hill promised to have a 2,000 receiving yard season this year, and he is off to a good start with 215 yards against the Bolts.

  The problem for Miami is its defense, which isn’t that good. Miami gave up 233 yards on the ground to the Chargers, including 117 from Autin Ekeler.

  The Patriots don’t figure to make much of a threat on the ground with aging Zek Elliot, but this is a huge chance for Mac Jones to show out. He was solid last week vs. the Eagles, tossing for 316 yards and three touchdowns. Plus it’s hard to imagine, Tagovailoa having another 400-yard plus passing day against a Bill Belichick coached defense. Although Tua is 4-0 vs. New England in his career.

  Expect a wild one.
