We’ve had cats most of my life. The first toy I’m recommending is FREE… it’s called a paper bag (not plastic). Cut or tear a small hole in the bottom of the bag. Open the bag and lay it on its side on the floor so your cat can see in from the top of the bag. Stick your finger in through the hole at the bottom of the bag so that your finger is inside. Wiggle your finger, and your cat will be interested. You’re welcome in advance.

My cat, Mimi, loves playing in a paper bag with a hole in the end. I just need to make sure that I’m quick on pulling my finger back. When I do, her paw comes flying out of the hole in the bag. I crack up every time!

I do NOT recommend laser pointer toys for dogs or cats. I agree with the experts that say it can give them OCD. These animals are our cuddly little hunters. The light is unattainable, so chasing it can be more frustrating than fun for our fur babies.

Nearly all the cat toys below I have either seen in action or friends have recommended. I also looked for high ratings from thousands of people. I hope you find something your cat will love!

  • MeoHui Cat Toys: 2PCS Retractable Cat Wand Toy

It’s like your fishing for cats. One of our kittens’ favorite toys, you can play directly with them, or I’ll tuck it under my leg on the bed and let it hang off. The kitties go nuts while I’m getting work done on my laptop. #WinWin…  It comes with two retractable poles and a bunch of bait. lol!

  • Cat Dancer Products Rainbow Cat Charmer

Same as idea as the fishing pole, but different presentation. This one you can’t just dangle off the bed, but your cat will get a lot of action out of the long colorful fabric end (think flag dancing). This one is meant more for floor action than for dangling and it has a 4.8-star rating on Amazon.

  • Petstages Tower of Tracks Interactive 3-Tier Cat Toy

This one I haven’t actually seen in action, but we did get something similar to it. The one we got was more closed off like a donut with holes in the sides. The ball would sometimes get stuck. I chose this toy instead because of the more open design.  I feel it’s the same concept that the kittens enjoyed, but the ball won’t get jammed up on this one.

  • Malier Cat Toys Kitten Toys Set

Here’s the whole ball of yarn. This is especially great for new cat owners trying to figure out which toys best fit their new furever friend and it has a good price point.

  • Yeowww! Catnip Toy Yellow Banana

This banana has major cat apPEEL.  I think we both know what I did there. It’s the dumbest things that end up being the favorite toys… especially when catnip is involved.

  • SPOT Ethical Products Ethical Wide Colorful Springs Cat Toy

I haven’t tried this one, but I think I’m going to. It has a 4.8 rating on Amazon with nearly 20,000 reviews.  That’s impressive. Plus the price is totally reasonable and you get ten springs in the pack.

  • Ontel Flippity Fish Interactive Cat Toy with Catnip & Fishing Pole

A fish that flops around on the floor AND has a cat nip option? If this doesn’t get your cat’s attention, what will?

  • Hexbug Mouse Robotic Cat Toy

This one is awesome for cat-only homes. The dogs will chew on it and destroy it. If you do have just kitties, they will LOVE it… and chase it… and catch it… and chase it some more.  Our kittens give this toy two paws up.
