NFL Giants Fans Found to Be Not the Most Supportive Fans
If you’re like me, you’re eagerly anticipating the NFL season getting underway in about a month away. A recent story at OLBG.com took a look into the most supportive fan bases of the past decade. Whether their team wins or loses it reveals where fans stand when their team is either a success or a failure.
It’s disheartening and devastating when your team (mine is the Philadelphia Eagles) is not competitive during the season with no chance of a playoff berth. It does make it more fun when the games matter, however, there’s nothing like attending an NFL game or even watching on TV. Sundays in the Fall are awesome at our house.
For the study, they examined metrics like stadium attendance, positive and negative conversations online, and overall mentions of the team’s home stadium compared to its capacity for the last season.
NFL Team With The Most Supportive Fans
It disgusts me to report that the data found the Dallas Cowboys have the most supportive fan base in football throughout the last decade. They must love losing.
When it comes to the New York Giants, they’re ranked 19th. The percentage of their stadium being full of fans dropped 1% over the past decade from 97% (2013/14) to 96% (2023/24). Their online mentions equals three million which interestingly is tied for first in the league.
NFL Overall Score for Giants and Jets Fan Support
They gave each team a score which gives us a better idea of the ranking of support. For instance, the Cowboys scored 67.4 overall. In comparison, the Giants received a score of 40.5. The Eagles and Jets scored 49.4 and 35.9 respectively.
To determine each score they looked at the percentage of stadiums full in 2013/14, the percentage of stadiums full in 2023/24, the change in the percentage of stadiums full in the last 10 years, positive conversations online, negative conversations online, and online mentions by capacity.
I think I speak for all NFL fans when I say it doesn’t matter what the score is, we’re going to back our team through good and bad seasons in hopes that one day they’ll win the Superbowl.
The Giants have rewarded their fans several times with Superbowl victories. I waited over 5 decades for the Eagles to finally make it happen and it was worth the wait.
