Mets Struggles Continue in Loss to Dodgers

Things just continue to go from bad to worse for the New York Mets, who lost their fourth straight game Saturday night, 5-1 to the LA Dodgers.
Since the club’s six-game winning streak, the Amazin’s offense has again disappeared. After getting one-hit by Julio Urius on Friday night, the Mets managed only three hits on Saturday, one of which was a Brandon Nimmo solo homer.
The one positive for the Mets was Kodai Senga, — New York’s best starter this year — tossed six innings of one-run ball, scattering four hits. He struck out nine, while walking two.
The bullpen was again the culprit. Adam Ottovino and Grant Hartwig struggled. It didn’t help the Mets made errors in the field as well. Brett Baty’s error when a pop up on the in field hit him in the face will be the microcosm of a lost season.
How much longer can the Mets wait before making a critical decision on this season. At 42-50, the Mets are sinking fast.
Owner Steve Cohen told reporters a couple weeks ago before the All-Star Break he wanted to see the players pick it up before the Trade deadline. Save for one week, it hasn’t work out too well.
When asked Friday about what he sees for the Mets future, General Manager Billy Eppler said he is open to any opportunity.
Currently the Mets are 19.5 games behind Atlanta in the NL East, and nine games out of the last wild card slot.
