Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society volunteer and supporter, Nicholas Grisi, is embarking on another unbelievable journey. Nick is riding his bike from Washington State to New Jersey to raise money for the Karma Cat Zen Dog Society in Milltown.
Nick left about two weeks ago and is about six hundred miles in on this second long and exhausting ride. We caught up with Nick when he was almost out of Montana. Nick said they’ve been in Montana for a while because it’s such a big state. He also said that it was more difficult than the southern ride he did a couple of years ago because of all the mountains and hills.
Nick shared during our conversation, “No major issues aside from just some junky weather here and there, some rain, and cold weather up in the mountains. Other than that everything has been pretty good so far.” He also told us he prepared for the ride by riding his “bike as much as I could at home before I left, it’s just extremely flat, as you know, in New Jersey so it’s hard to really train until you get out on the road.
Nicholas has launched a “Cycling for Kitties” GoFundMe to help raise money for items needed for his trip, as well as daily expenses, including food and lodging. His goal is$10,000 and has pledged that he will be giving back 100% of the donations to the animal rescue, Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society. He has already reached the six thousand dollar mark and he’ll be continuing his ride through late July. Follow Nicholas’ journey here.

Are you into exploring the outdoors? Now, I never thought I would be, but I became completely hooked in the past few years. It allows us to completely escape from the stresses of the world, and to take the time to relax away from it all. While I love a lot of outdoor activities, I get really excited about camping.
There is nothing like waking up at camp in the morning. Smelling the fresh air, hearing the birds chirping, and feeling the sun on your face is priceless. Plus, it is a great way to create lasting memories with your family. You can explore the area, enjoy hiking, fishing, swimming, or just lounging around the campfire.
Now, I remember the first time I set up my first camping spot. I had no idea what to bring and what would make me feel most comfortable. When it came to setting up the tent, I even struggled with that at first. I didn’t even how to build a proper fire. Honestly, getting to learn what worked for me was a great experience.
But hey, camping doesn’t have to break the bank, and setting up camp doesn’t have to be daunting. There are lots of helpful tools and gadgets to assist you. From pop-up tents to portable camping chairs, there’s always something that’s easy to set up and won’t take up too much space.
So, gather up the family, the S’mores supplies, and these items listed below for a memorable weekend camping in the great outdoors. You won’t regret it!
This sleeping bag is good for use during 3 seasons and will keep you comfortable down to 32 degrees F. It is also water repellent and lightweight, making it an excellent choice for camping.
It’s all about comfort & being compact for this pillow. It has a self-inflatable core & is inflatable. Both features make it easy to set up and will give you a good night’s rest at camp.
I don’t know about you, but I like to be extra comfortable around a campfire. Check out this camp chair that has padding to keep you cozy. It also has a great built-in cooler bag for your favorite frosty beverage.
Being bug–free at camp is a must. Now, youcan’t get rid of all of them, but this Thermacell is a game changer when it comes to controlling mosquitoes within a 20-foot radius.
The weather isn’t always optimal to cook over the fire. That is why this Coleman camping stove is key. With dual burners, your food will cook in no time. Plus, it latches shut with a carrying handle making it super portable.
When you’re camping, you will have plenty of down time to relax outdoors. That is where this amazing hammock that I personallyown comes in handy! It’s easy to set up & is extremely comfortable & compact to carry.
