Mets Suffer Epic Meltdown, Swept by Braves
If there was a worse loss for the New York Mets before Thursday night in Atlanta, please point it out.
The New York Mets made Mets infamy last night, blowing a 9-5 lead, and losing 13-10 to their hated rivals in ten innings, capping of a humbling sweep at the hands of the Braves. The loss marked the first time in Mets history that the Amazin’s lost three straight games where they enjoyed a lead of three-runs or more in each of those very games.
Talk about a mark of history nobody wants to have.
The Mets led the Braves by 3 runs in every single game this series.

They still managed to get swept by the Braves.

The Mets have that. And they are three-games under .500 at 30-33.
On Thursday, the Mets got all the offense Buck Showalter could have asked for.
A grand slam by Brandon Nimmo.
Two huge home runs by Francisco Alvarez.
10 runs scored on a night where Pete Alonso wasn’t available after getting drilled the night before.
Yet, the Mets couldn’t make it stand up.
Mets just got swept by the Braves

The issues for the Amazin’s started with Justin Verlander. The 40-year old former ace of the Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers, looked lost. He gave up five runs, four earned, with four walks over three innings of work.
Verlander’s ERA stands at 4.85, and outside of one outing, he just doesn’t look anything close to the Cy Young Award winner Houston had last year.
The Mets bullpen? Awful. From Steven Nogosek to Jeff Brigham to Drew Smith, and finally, David Robertson and Tommy Hunter, vanquished what should have been a great rebound night for the Mets.
You could feel the air come out of the Mets sails when ex-Met Travis d’Arnaud crushed a two-run homer to left to cut the Mets lead down to 10-9 in the eighth. Then David Robertson gave up the game tying homer to Orlando Arcia in the ninth inning that set the building on fire.
"This isn't easy. It's not easy for the team, not easy for me. The one thing that I've always been is accountable - this wasn't good enough. It isn't good enough. I will work as hard as anybody to find it"

Finally in the tenth, SNY flashed up a graphic that Ozzie Albies never had a hit in three at bats against Tommy Hunter.
(insert sarcastic smirk)
Albies hit one to the next state as he leapt up into the air and the fireworks exploded as the Braves celebrated a 13-10 victory.
It feels like things are unraveling fast for the Amazin’s.
