Heat Stun Celtics, Silence Critics in Game 7 Triumph
Infamy can wait. The NBA Finals is calling.
The Miami Heat avoided the distinction of becoming the first team in NBA History to blow and lose a series after grabbing a 3-0 series lead by knocking out the Boston Celtics in Game 7 103-84 on Sunday night.

The Heat were incredible on the boards. Miami hit on 49 percent of their shots, and were 14-of-28 (50 percent) from downtown. Compare that to the Celtics who struggled to hit the open shot, connecting on only 21 percent of their three-point attempts.
Jimmy Butler had a huge night, posting 28 points to lead all scorers, while Caleb Martin was unbelievable in knotting 26 points on 11 of 16 shooting.

Despite managing a double-double, Jayson Tatum had only 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting, while Jaylen Brown had 19 points (8-of-23 shooting) and Game 6 hero Derrick White managed 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting.

Miami was so good at hitting the open three’s that they carried an 11-point lead into the half, and the game felt over right then and there.
With the victory Miami advances to the NBA Finals for the second time in the last four seasons to face the Denver Nuggets, who will play in its first NBA Finals. Miami becomes only the second number 8 seed to advance to the NBA Finals. That first team was the 1999 New York Knicks.
