Rutgers Women's Soccer remains unbeaten! The Scarlet Knights wrapped up their long coast-to-coast road-trip with a 3-0 victory over Providence to move to 3-0 on the season.  The undefeated start marks the second straight season that RU has started 3-0. It is also the first time in program history -- dating back to 1984 -- that the Women's Soccer program opened a season with three straight road victories.

Gian Girman, Becci Fluchel and Kylie Daigle all scored for Rutgers, with Sam Kroeger and Sara Brocious nailing assists.

As described by a press released issued by Rutgers Athletes, RU's defense was "suffocating throughout" as they held Providence to only a single shot on goal. Overall Providence took six shots, none were even close to the goal.

The shutout gave goal keeper Megan McClelland her 37th career shutout.  The Rutgers defense was suffocating throughout, and the possession was outright selfish as the Friars only managed a single shot on target, which Rutgers goalkeeper Meagan McClelland turned away in the 4th minute. McClelland added to her NCAA active career lead with her 37th shutout.

Rutgers' home opener is Sunday at 1 p.m. against Buffalo.
