‘Squid Game’ Creator Dunks On Lebron James’ Criticism of Ending
After LeBron James shared his thoughts about the ending of South Korean Netflix series Squid Game, the show’s creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk has now responded to his comments.
LeBron made his comments — and probably didn’t realize that he was being filmed — during a post-game press conference while talking to his Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis about the show. Apparently, he didn’t like how it ended. Watch the video below and be warned: it’s very NSFW.

Speaking to The Guardian, Hwang addressed LeBron’s criticism of Squid Game and ideas about a sequel, while delivering a dig at Space Jam 2. Hwang giggled during the interview asking, “Have you seen Space Jam 2?” To which interviewer Stuart Jeffries admits not all the way through. “LeBron James is cool and can say what he wants,” Hwang continued. “I respect that. I’m very thankful he watched the whole series. But I wouldn’t change my ending. That’s my ending. If he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending.’”
LeBron James then took to Twitter last night to repost Hwang’s response, noting his disbelief of the situation: “This can’t be real right??!! I hope not,” he wrote with tons of laughing emojis.

Though Squid Game‘s major success has made Netflix hundreds of millions, Dong-Hyuk says, “I’m not that rich. But I do have enough. I have enough to put food on the table. And it’s not like Netflix is paying me a bonus. Netflix paid me according to the original contract.”
The 50-year-old South Korean director created, wrote and directed the series, causing him so much stress that he lost six teeth in the process. “It was physically, mentally and emotionally draining,” he said. “I kept having new ideas and revising the episodes as we were filming so the amount of work multiplied.”
Though all signs point to a second season, Hwang doesn’t want to only be known for Squid Games and is now lobbying to have Netflix screen three movies that he’s made in the last decade.
