NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 11: Anthony Rizzo #48 of the New York Yankees celebrates after hitting a two run home run against Cal Quantrill #47 of the Cleveland Guardians during the sixth inning in game one of the American League Division Series at Yankee Stadium on October 11, 2022 in New York, New York. One down, ten to go for the New York Yankees in their pursuit of a 28th World Series Championship.

Riding the right arm of staff ace Gerrit Cole, and home runs by Anthony Rizzo and Harrison Bader, the Yankees quietly put away the Cleveland Guardians in Game One of the American League Division series. The Yanks need just two more wins to forward to the ALCS, and presumably a date with their nemesis — at least since 2017, anyway — the Houston Astros.

  • Harrison Bader Homers to Tie the Game.

After falling behind on Steven Kwan’s solo homer in the top of the second inning, the Yankees wasted no time in responding when Harrison Bader sent one into the seats in left.

  • Anthony Rizzo Joins the party

With the Yankees leading 2-1 in the sixth inning, Anthony Rizzo went long distance for a two-run bomb that cleared the wall in right to push the Yanks up 4-1.

  • Yankee Stadium was electric

The sell out crowd at Yankee Stadium was phenomenal on Wednesday night. So much so that it drew praise from the players afterwards.

  • Online Reaction

And of course Yankees fans weren’t done reacting to Tuesday’s victory were they? Game 2 is Thursday in the Bronx.
