The NFL was not short on stories this season, everyday it looked like there was something new to talk about. Here are my top 10 stories from this past year.

  • Tom Brady Short-Lived Retirement

Soon after the 2021 season ESPN reported that Tom Brady would retire and a couple days later, he did. Forty days later he unretires and decides to come back. Now that he is back there is no end in sight. With the season not going the way he would’ve liked it, now there is links to him pairing up with Sean Payton somewhere.

  • Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson over a 17-month span has had to deal with lawsuits from women claiming they were sexually assaulted by Watson. Initially his suspension was only six games, but it was then changed to 11 after an appeal from Commissioner Goodell. The league wanted to suspend him a whole year but had to settle. He then signed with the Cleveland Browns for five years 230 million fully guaranteed. A wild amount especially after all he has put himself through. He still made $45.365 million even though he was suspended for 11 games.

  • Giants Turnaround

After a few turbulent seasons the Giants finally got a real coach in Brian Daboll and a good general manager in Joe Schoen. Before the season it did not look good for quarterback Daniel Jones but now, he has played well enough to get a contract, if not with the Giants someone will have belief in him. The defense has played a lot better too buying into the scheme and getting after the quarterbacks. Becoming a respectable defense that teams have to prepare for.

  • Jets & Zach Wilson

The Jets had one of the best drafts in recent history especially their first round. Getting more help on defense and becoming one of the league’s best under coach Robert Saleh. The only problem was the offense and Zach Wilson. Wilson was not playing well most of the season, missing his receivers and throwing interceptions. He lost the locker room and even the fans are fed up with him. His time in New York looks to be over as they move on to Mike White who from the beginning has played great.

  • Russell Wilson & Broncos

Coming into the season everyone expected Wilson and the Broncos to be one of the most feared teams but that is not the case this season. After signing Wilson to a quarter of a billion dollars Wilson was expected to be who he was in Seattle, and he had more help this time. Wilson has had his worst season only 12 touchdowns and 3,019 passing yards so far this season. Their head coach was fired and now the next coach has a lot to fix for next season.

  • CMC Trade

Christian McCaffery getting traded was something people have seen coming the only thing was where would he go. The 49ers were able to get him and add him to a high-powered offense that already has Deeboo Samuel and George Kittle. CMC does not have to worry about being the work horse like he was with the Panthers. This is a team most would not like to see in the playoffs.

  • Dan Snyder

The Washington Commanders created toxic work culture, ignoring and downplaying sexual misconduct. In a report by the U.S House of Committee on Oversight and Reform, Snyder was in on the misconduct. Snyder interfered with the investigation trying to intimidate witnesses and blocking the Committee from accessing thousands of documents. All other owners want him out of the league, and they are doing everything to do so. Making sure he doesn’t get any money for a new stadium and making things hard on him. He says he will sell the team and is exploring all options.

  • Derek Carr Gets Benched

Carr getting benched after a tough season doesn’t make a lot of sense. The Raiders are still in the playoff hunt so there is no reason to take him out. One of the best receivers in the league Davante Adams is there because of Carr. If you bench him or even release him this offseason where does that leave Adams? Coach Josh McDaniel must get a hold of this situation before he loses his locker room.

  • Lamar Jackson Contract

Lamar is one of the most exciting players to watch right now. He is reminiscent of Michael Vick and keeps everyone on their toes. This past offseason Jackson was negotiating his contract but did not agree to any terms with the Ravens. He wants a Deshaun Watson deal getting fully guaranteed contract, but the Ravens don’t want to give him that. He is negotiating the contracts himself with no agent. Betting on himself is great but at what cost if the team doesn’t improve the skill players around him or if the team doesn’t make a deep playoff run.

  • NFC East

There are years where the NFC East is one of the worst if not the worst division in football. At that point they earn the name the NFC Least, but this season things are different. As of now all four teams would be in the playoffs. The Eagles and Cowboys are the biggest threats to win the conference and go to the big game. No one expected the Giants and Commanders to be here but if they do get in watch out for them the teams with no expectations are the ones to watch. They come in with I don’t care attitudes and will make the playoffs more chaotic than they already are.
