NETS 112 – WIZARDS 100

A few weeks ago the Brooklyn Nets were a punchline. Mired in their own muck from the way the franchise handled the firing of former Head coach Steve Nash to Kyrie Irving’s controversial retweeting of antiemetic propaganda that ultimately cost him with an eight game suspension, it appeared the Nets were on their way to total freefall. After a summer of discontent when Irving and Kevin Durant, separately requested trades, who can blame anyone for counting out the Nets?

Yet under new head coach Jacque Vaughn, the Nets have caught fire. They took care of the Washington Wizards 112-100 on Monday night for its eighth win in the last nine games to improve to 17-12 overall.

Kevin Durant led the way with 30 points while Irving contributed 24 points of his own in the blowout victory.

“I thought you saw our guys look extremely fresh,” Vaughn said. “We had a lot of juice to start the game, and plenty to finish.”
