Led by a superlative effort by freshman guard Kaylene Smikle who dished out a career high 23-points, Rutgers rolled past Cornell 71-52 for its fourth win of the season. Rutgers is now 4-4 on the year, and will visit Boston College on Wednesday. They will open up Big Ten play next Sunday against Ohio State.

In addition to Smikle's huge showcase, the Scarlet Knights dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Big Red 53-30. Chyna Cornwell led the team with 16 rebounds, 11 of which came in the first half.

"I thought we did a good job of pursuing the ball," head coach Coquese Washington told the media afterwards.

"There were a few times where we had two or three of our players fighting over the ball. That's something we definitely want to do was to use our aggressiveness to come down with the ball and I thought we did that. These two [Smikle and Cornwell] in particular did a really good job on the boards.

"Chyna [Cornwell] has been doing a great job on the boards all year so it was really good to see her and Kaylene [Smikle] joined the party with her in terms of getting there and crashing."

Awa Sidibe contributed 16 points in 34 minutes of action. Abby Streeter had four three pointers and 12 points on the night.

Rutgers shot .429 from the floor and 37 percent from downtown as compared to Cornell who connected on only 29 percent of their overall shots.
