Despite carrying a 13-0 lead into halftime, Rutgers couldn’t hold off the Nebraska Cornhoskers and end its Big Ten home game losing streak, falling 14-13 when the final gun sounded.

In the second half, three of Rutgers’ final five drives ended in an interception, with the final turnover coming on an Evan Simon pass on third and ten at the RU 45-yard line with 48 seconds to go, as Maclom Hartzog came up with the pick to solidify it for Nebraska. For Nebraska it was their second straight win in conference as they move to .500 at 3-3 on the year.
Both Evan Simon and Noah Vedral exchanged snaps at quarterback throughout the night for Rutgers, and had very similar numbers, both completing six of 15 passes. However Simon tossed all three second half interceptions.
Vedral got the start and led Rutgers on a beautiful six-play, 75-yard scoring drive to open the game, with Vedral scoring on a 21-yard scamper down the sideline to make it 7-0.
Rutgers would tack on a pair of Jude McAtamney field goals to expand its lead to 13-0. McAtamney would later miss a 59-yard attempt with one second left in the half.
The second half was a completely different story. Casey Thompson dominated the half under center for Nebraska.
He guided the Huskers on a 9-play, 78-yard scoring drive to open the second half. Thompson’s pass to Travis Vokolek cut the deficit to 13-7.
The turning point of the game midway through the fourth quarter when Simon was picked off by Myles Farmer, who brought the ball back to the Rutgers 27-yard line. On the next play Thompson found Trey Palmer for what would be the game winning touchdown strike.
